Thomas J. Parsons, 70, of Ennis, TX, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2022 at his home.
Tom was born on May 12, 1951 to Robert E. and Nancy J. (nee: Gehri) Parsons.
After graduating from Mentor High School, Tom joined the United States Air Force. He then lived in Fayetteville, NC before moving to Ennis, TX in 2001.
His careers centered around being a fire fighter beginning with an Explorer group in Mentor to being a full-time fire fighter at Fort Bragg, NC. Along the way, he was always involved with local volunteer fire departments.
Tom also worked as a truck driver and bus driver, taught at a community college in Fayetteville, NC and as a loss prevention officer.
An avid writer, Tom wrote a monthly column called “The Fill Line” and authored two books: “The Firehouse Kitchen” and “The Red Notebook.” He was strong in his Christian faith, very active in his church and often volunteered at the local hospital.
Tom loved his plot of land and enjoyed working on it, especially on his new zero-turn lawn mower.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Laurel; daughter, Chanda; step-daughters, Kimberly and Marilee; mother, Nancy Parsons; and his brother, David (Rachel) Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Parsons.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be observed. Private family interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be made to the Mentor Fire Museum and Gallery, 7262 Jackson Street, Mentor, OH 44060.
