Services for Thomas Yurkovich, 84, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM (today) Friday, September 4, and from 10-11 AM on Saturday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Yurkovich passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born May 15, 1931 in Cleveland, he was a Willowick resident for 45 years, Concord Twp. for 15 years before moving to Mentor this past spring.
He was United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a graduate of Collinwood High School, class of 1949 and earned an Associate’s Degree from the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He was also an active member of Willoughby Hills Evangelical Friends Church. He coached little league baseball in Willowick for several years and was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers.
Mr. Yurkovich was employed as draftsman at The Lubrizol Corporation in Painesville, retiring in 1996 after 41 years of service. He also served as President of the International Management Council for Lubrizol in 1994-1995.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Leslie Jean (Marshall) Yurkovich; children, Thomas (Daralynn) Yurkovich, Barbara (Scott) Sroka, Dennis (Riitta) Yurkovich, Gail Yurkovich and Elizabeth (Michael) Collins; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and niece, Alice Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Angela “Alice” Yurkovich; sister, Alice Jalovic and brother, Frank Grosely.
Private family burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.
