Walter Rewald

January 1, 1924 — March 26, 2012

Memorial services for Walter Rewald, 88, of Willowick and more recently of Kirtland, will be 5:30 PM Sunday, April 15, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. Walter passed away on March 26, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born January 1, 1924 in Berlin, Germany, Walter and his family immigrated to America in 1956. He was a resident of Lake County for 56 years.
Walter was one of Richman Brothers 700 fussy tailors and went on to be a successful sales associate and Assistant Manager of the Richmond Mall store. Walter took excellent care of his customers and many became good friends. He worked for Richman Brothers for 30 years before retiring. Walter also loved spending time with family and friends over a meal, a ball game or just a casual get-together. He especially enjoyed our family vacations, traveling around the U.S. and Canada, seeing the beautiful scenery and many of the national parks, zoos and gardens. He recreated some of that beauty in his own yard and flower beds.
After retiring, Walter took up golf to enjoy being outdoors and getting some exercise 'chasing that little white ball around'. We enjoyed many rounds of golf, talking and laughing together. Who cares about the score!
Walter loved Cleveland sports, always believing that this would be the year for the Indians, Browns or Cavaliers. And if they didn't make – well, there is always next year! He was a true optimist. He also enjoyed going to the Lake County Captains games. His beloved wife of 56 years, Doris died in 2008. He is survived by his daughter Heidi (Jim) Egensperger. We miss him very much.
