Walter C. Strickland

Memorial services for Walter C. Strickland, 81, of Eastlake, will be at 11 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Saturday, prior to the service.

Mr. Strickland passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Born July 20, 1943 in Painesville, he was a lifelong Lake County resident.

He was a longtime member of the former Euclid Lutheran Church in Euclid and the former Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eastlake and was currently affiliated with Advent Lutheran Church in Mentor.

Mr. Strickland was a United States Navy Veteran, and a longtime season ticket holder at the Lake County Captains stadium. Walt was number 24 in line when season tickets went on sale. He loved sports of all kinds, shooting pool with his brother, Keith and cousin, John.

He was employed at the former TRW plant in Cleveland and later at Lincoln Electric Company in Euclid.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Hearn), whom he married on July 14, 1973 and his daughter, Jamie Lynn Strickland. He also leaves his grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Aiden, brother, Keith (Gayle) Strickland and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Marvel (Morris) Strickland and his son, Richard Strickland.
