Wanda J. Friedel

September 17, 1930 — April 23, 2021

Wanda Friedel, age 90, of Willoughby, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at her home. She was born September 17, 1930 in Richmond, Ohio, to Theodore and Carrie (Hoplight) Muse.
Wanda believed in working hard. She started as a teen working at a worm farm and a basket factory. After graduation from Andover High School, she went to school to become a secretary in Cleveland, and met her first husband, William Martin. They were married on March 28, 1953, eventually settling in Willoughby, and starting a family. She worked a wide variety of jobs, sometimes two at a time. After her husband died, she went to Nanny school and loved working with kids and their families.
She also believed in staying active. Volleyball, bocce ball, square dancing, camping with the Willowick Campers, and attending Willoughby Methodist Church were just a few of her activities. She met her second husband, Frank Friedel, while taking square dancing lessons. They were married on September 17, 1991.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Frank; son, Russell (Elaine) Martin; daughter, Beverly (Charles) McArthur; 3 grandsons, Charlie (Missy) McArthur, Tim (Marcy) McArthur, and Ken (Valerie) McArthur; 7 great-grandchildren, Mike, Brendan, Tyler, Lucas, Gavin, Kensley, and Cohen; sister, Jane Laseter; sister-in-law, Janet Lipps; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, William; brothers, Elwood and Duane Muse; and her sister, Lois Christensen.
Graveside service 11 AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Willoughby Memorial Gardens Cemetery (Sec A), Lakeshore Blvd., Willoughby (Across from Osborne Park).
Family will receive friends 9:30 -10:30 AM Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Social distancing protocols will be enforced and masks are required.
