Wayne E. Gidley

Services for Wayne E. Gidley, Jr., 78, of Mentor, will be at 10 AM Monday, January 28, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Gidley passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home.

Born May 11, 1934 in East Cleveland, he has lived in Mentor for more than 50 years.

He was a United States Army veteran, stationed at Fort Knox, KY. He was a member of the TRW retiree’s club and enjoyed working in the yard, taking care of his pool, working jigsaw puzzles and caring for numerous pets.

Mr. Gidley was employed at the former TRW Corporation as a supervisor and after his retirement there, he worked at Sears at Great Lakes Mall for 15 years.

Survivors include his children, John (Yelena) Gidley of Mentor, Stephen Gidley of the Cleveland area, Jennifer Gidley and Jeffrey Gidley, both of Mentor; granddaughter, Jordan Gidley; siblings, Nancy Kuper of Mentor, Kenneth (Marge) Gidley of Lakewood, CA, Lawrence (Lois) Gidley of Concord Township, Sally (John) Bunnell of Willoughby and Ronald (Elizabeth) Gidley of Hambden Township. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda, in 1979 and his second wife, Ingrid in 2011. His parents, Wayne E. Sr. and Sarah (Covill) Gidley and sister, Patricia White are also deceased.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity.
