Willard R. “Chuck” Humphries

Services for Willard R “Chuck” Humphries, 91, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Mentor Baptist Church, 7500 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mr. Humphries passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Born November 29, 1932 in Cleveland, he was a longtime Lake County resident, living in Eastlake, Concord Township and Mentor for the past nine years.

He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended Mentor Baptist Church and enjoyed his meetings with the Dinosaur Club, his retiree friends from CEI. He also loved to paint, and play card games, especially poker and pinochle.

Mr. Humphries was employed as an engineer at the Cleveland Electric Company in Cleveland and Perry, where he served as a liaison between the company and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He retired in 1988 after more 40 years of service.

Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Gayle (Childress); daughter, Lisa (John) Lawrence and son, Roger (Dorene) Humphries; grandchildren, Braden (Jennifer) Lawrence, Eric (Becky) Lawrence, Christopher Humphries, Colleen Humphries and Ryan Humphries and great-grandchildren, E.J. and Zinnia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Claudine (Lemon) Humphries and his sister, Dorothy Musser.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
