William G. Hachtel, age 91, longtime Waite Hill resident, died early Saturday morning, August 14th at Breckenridge where he resided in Willoughby.
He was born October 3, 1929 in Cleveland, the son of Raymond and Norma (Heffron) Hachtel. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, TN and Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy K. (Raufman) Hachtel, his children; Katherine A. Hachtel & Gretchen L. (Mark J.) Evans, a grandson; Andrew C. Evans; sister, Gail (Arthur) Haddad and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister; Patricia (Gordon) Thompson.
Bill served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict before assuming control of the family business, Wahl Moving & Transfer/Wahl Rigging. He had a life long interest in all things old and collected a diverse assortment of collectibles, such as: vintage vehicles, bicycles, arcade games, lightbulbs, steam locomotives and stationary engines. He was a member of many organizations; the Model T Club, SIA & IBCA. In his later years he used his collections to create industrial artwork.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 4785 Shankland Rd., Willoughby with Pastor Shane Nanny officiating. Burial will be in Waite Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7PM at the Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Memorial considerations may be made to a charity of your choice.
