William Current Hance, 81, of Willoughby, died Monday, September 5, 2022 at UH West Medical Center in Willoughby.
He was born February 2, 1941 in Mount Vernon, New York, the son William A. and Lucile C. Hance. He has lived in Willoughby since 1965.
Bill was a graduate of Rye Neck High School in New York and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College, a degree from the University of Grenoble, France and his Master’s degree from the University of Buffalo at Buffalo.
Prior to his retirement, he was a high school teacher, assistant football coach and head softball coach for the Madison School District. He was elected to the Madison High School Hall of Fame for his coaching tenure in girls fast-pitch softball.
After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, carving and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Nancy Susan (Tyler) Hance; children, William M. Hance, Margaret S. Hance (Antonio Palacios), Victoria A. Arends and Beth T. (Jeremy) Heller; grandchildren, Sophia M. Palacios, Mason W. Heller and Cole D. Heller.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
